Huawei, a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT), has initiated a significant program to train Pakistani youth in advanced ICT skills. Reports indicate that the number of individuals to be trained varies, with figures ranging from 200,000 to 300,000. This initiative is part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program and aims to enhance technical education across Pakistan.
Huawei Technologies plans to train 300,000 Pakistanis in IT and advanced technologies by year-end, with 60,000 receiving high-tech training and 240,000 undergoing basic IT training. This initiative was announced during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Huawei CEO Ethen Sun. PM Shehbaz highlighted the government’s focus on IT skill development and a long-term partnership with Huawei.
Huawei’s program aims to boost IT exports and job opportunities, with third-party validation ensuring quality. In collaboration with HEC Pakistan, Huawei has introduced AI, cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity courses in 15 universities, having already trained over 20,000 students.
