Najy Benhassine, Country Director at The World Bank, in a tweet on X, formerly addressed the institution’s alleged critique of #Pakistan’s Urban Plan, claiming it to be a ‘false interpretation’ by the reports published on Friday.
As per his tweet the articles and reports misinterpreted specific parts of the document outlining the new World Bank Group Country Partnership Framework for Pakistan (CPF), released earlier this week.
Additionally stating that the institute is in collaboration with the government of Pakistan to ensure the new CPF is implemented in line and support of the country’s domestic national plans at all levels, he clarified that the misinterpreted sentence referenced in the news articles was not in critique of the plan or any of its sectoral chapters.
Alternatively, reports highlighted Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, the Minister for Planning and Development’s denial of the bank’s earlier assertion, claiming instead that the 5E Framework and the home-grown economic plan have indeed been blended and backed by sectoral targets.
