In a significant move towards technology, the federal cabinet has laid down the National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025. The purpose of the policy is establishment of a complete artificial intelligence system in Pakistan. The cabinet which is led by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, unanimously approved the policy. This policy is supposed to ensure that all people can get AI access, enhance the prosperity of the population and bring new opportunities and jobs.
The plan is to achieve these goals: to train 1 million AI workers by 2030, launch 50,000 civic AI projects, and launch 1,000 local AI products into the market within five years. It also creates AI Innovation & Venture Funds to embrace private firms, offers 3000 AI scholarships and underwrites 1000 research programs per year.
The pillars are inclusiveness, data protection, and ethical AI application, and the vision is to expand the scope to women and disabled people by making the education and financing accessible. Such coordination is to be carried out by an AI Council.
This is after the recent events when SOCByte launched AI to go into cybersecurity and the Finance Ministry contributed 2000MW power to Bitcoin mining and AI data facilities. Pakistan is now joining the world of AI-based race and it is high time.
