Jazz is taking a significant step toward sustainability by partnering with Huawei to deploy solar power at 1,000 telecom sites across Pakistan. This initiative, driven by Huawei’s iSolar technology, plays a key role in Jazz’s transition to a greener telecom network by integrating renewable energy solutions. The solarization process is expected to be completed in the coming months, generating approximately 15,000 MWh of green energy annually. It’s a crucial move that aligns with Jazz’s broader commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, emphasized the company’s dedication to customer experience and environmental responsibility. He highlighted how deploying iSolar sites strengthens Jazz’s sustainability journey, ensuring reliable connectivity powered by renewable energy. This initiative, he noted, is not just about business growth but also about making a positive impact on the planet by promoting responsible energy consumption in Pakistan.
Steven Yi, President, Joint Chiefs of Staff for All Regions at Huawei, echoed this sentiment, expressing Huawei’s commitment to supporting Jazz in setting a global benchmark for a green telecom industry. He pointed out that this collaboration will help reduce operational costs, drive the communications sector toward a more sustainable future, and advance VEON’s green strategy.
Beyond its immediate environmental and operational benefits, this project is expected to serve as a scalable model for future expansion. As it progresses into 2025, Jazz and Huawei remain committed to leveraging innovative technologies that support sustainability and contribute to a low-carbon digital future.
