Huawei CloudMatrix 384, and we can just say it’s making waves. Many visitors gathered around their stall during the launch, which was held at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai.
So, what’s the news? Industry observars are already speculating about how this system can compete perhaps even beat out NVIDIA‘s top-of-the-line model, the GB200 NVL72. That’s huge. CloudMatrix 384 employs 384 of Huawei’s latest 910C chips, and as good as these chips may be individually, Huawei was smart. They optimized system performance with a “supernode architecture” that links all the chips to offer truly lightning-fast processing. This is exactly how they’re catching up clever design over brute force.
Even Nvidia’s CEO just admitted Huawei is moving quickly and this system validates it. It’s already on Huawei Cloud. Oh, and when people questioned Huawei employees at the booth, they were not speaking much about it.
But one thing’s certain despite bans, Huawei’s not going down. In fact, they’re proving they’re willing to lead the charge in china’s emerging AI race.
