
PM Shehbaz seeks a strategic economic partnership with Saudi investors, aiming MoUs across agriculture, energy, ports and IT to boost trade and investment.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to elevate their long-standing economic ties into a comprehensive strategic partnership centered on mutual gains.
Addressing a Saudi business delegation led by Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud at the Prime Minister House, Shehbaz extended warm greetings to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He underscored the deep historical bonds between the two nations and called for intensified focus on tangible collaboration in trade, investment, and development.
The prime minister expressed optimism that the visit would yield fresh agreements and memoranda of understanding across multiple sectors. He described the prevailing conditions as highly conducive to enhanced cooperation between both governments and their respective private sectors.
The Saudi delegation explored potential investment avenues in agriculture, ports, highways, airport operations, real estate, energy, power distribution, and information technology. Shehbaz welcomed this interest, stating that capital inflows into these areas could substantially bolster Pakistan’s economic growth.
Prince Mansour thanked the prime minister for the hospitality and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to expanding commercial and investment links with Pakistan. The delegation is also scheduled to hold talks with government officials and private-sector representatives during its stay.
In recent months, both countries have moved to deepen collaboration in trade, energy, and investment. Notably, Saudi Arabia provided critical financial relief to Pakistan by rolling over approximately $5 billion in deposits for an additional three years, thereby reinforcing Islamabad’s foreign-exchange reserves
