PBIT and China’s Dongjin Power Tech have signed an MoU to establish a $15 million dry battery manufacturing plant in Punjab.
Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dongjin Power Tech to establish a dry battery manufacturing plant in Punjab.
The agreement was signed by PBIT CEO Zeeshan Shabbir Rana and Dongjin Power Tech CEO Hu Ge. The project involves an initial investment of $15 million and will be set up in a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
The planned facility aims to produce high-capacity dry batteries, supporting local industry while reducing reliance on imports. Officials noted that the project is expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to industrial growth in the province.
The initiative reflects growing foreign investment interest in Pakistan’s manufacturing sector, particularly from Chinese firms seeking to expand operations under favourable investment frameworks.
By strengthening local production capabilities, the collaboration is expected to enhance supply chains, promote technology transfer and support long-term economic development in the region.
