Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan Minister Shaza Khawaja announced that Google has formally registered in Pakistan and will set up its first office in the country. Speaking at a press conference, she also confirmed that production of Google Chromebooks has begun in Haripur through Tech Valley Pakistan, National Radio Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), and Allied.

Shaza said Pakistan will manufacture between five hundred thousand and six hundred thousand Chromebooks each year. She added that the government aims to eventually export these devices. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier praised the effort, noting in his remarks to APP that local production would reduce costs for users.

The minister shared that an MoU between Google and the IT Ministry has been finalised to offer training for youth, with plans to set up new technology labs. She pointed out that Meta’s Llama platform is now available in Urdu, calling it “a sign of strong engagement” in comments reported by Radio Pakistan.

Shaza also announced that TikTok’s STEM feed is now live in Pakistan, giving users access to free educational content. In addition, Saudi firm GO Telecom – قو للاتصالات has launched an online hub to connect Saudi companies with Pakistani tech talent. The minister said this will help freelancers reach new markets and create more work opportunities.
