Thatta Cement has commissioned a 4.8MW wind power plant, boosting its total renewable energy capacity to 9.8MW. This move reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and cost efficiency. It also aligns with a broader trend in Pakistan’s cement industry, where firms like Cherat Cement Company Limited are expanding their renewable energy investments to support the country’s green energy goals.

Thatta Cement Company Limited has commissioned a 4.8MW wind power plant at its Sindh facility, boosting its total renewable energy capacity to 9.8MW when combined with an existing 5MW solar installation. The project was completed ahead of schedule and reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and reducing fossil fuel reliance.

Founded in 1980, Thatta Cement is engaged in cement production and also owns Thatta Power (Private) Limited. This move aligns with global and national trends, as renewable energy adoption—especially solar—continues to grow. In Pakistan, companies like Tariq Corporation and Olympia Mills are also investing in solar systems, despite relatively stable overall electricity consumption.
