The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has initiated the licensing of Virtual Private Network (VPN) service providers under the Class License category for the provision of data services. This move aims to regulate VPN usage, ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance with national regulations.
As part of this initiative, PTA has approved two companies, Zettabyte and Alpha 3 Cubic, to operate legally within Pakistan’s jurisdiction. The licensing framework is designed to facilitate businesses in utilizing VPNs for lawful purposes, promoting transparency and accountability in the digital landscape.
As part of this initiative, PTA has already awarded Class Licenses for VPN services to three companies. All VPN service providers currently operating without a license are strongly encouraged to secure the necessary Class License to remain compliant with the prevailing regulatory framework. Obtaining the license in a timely manner will help avoid potential service interruptions and ensure continued service for customers. Comprehensive details on the licensing process, eligibility criteria, and application forms can be found on the official PTA website.
