
PKCERT and Kaspersky signed an MoU to enhance Pakistan’s cybersecurity through threat detection, training, and capacity building. The partnership aims to safeguard digital infrastructure, improve cyber resilience, and share actionable threat intelligence nationwide.

The Pakistan Computer Emergency Response Team (National CERT – Pakistan) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky to strengthen Pakistan’s cybersecurity framework. PKCERT, a federal entity tasked with protecting the country’s digital assets critical infrastructure, will collaborate with Kaspersky on threat detection, mitigation, and prevention.
The partnership includes extensive training and awareness programs across government, industry, academia, and civil society to enhance operational readiness. It also focuses on developing a skilled cybersecurity workforce aligned with national and international standards, alongside the timely sharing of actionable cyber threat intelligence with relevant stakeholders.
Under the MoU, both organisations will cooperate in legislative and regulatory matters, incident detection and response, cybersecurity education, research and development, and professional exchanges. Technical information, data feeds, and intelligence on cyber threats affecting citizens, businesses, and government institutions will also be exchanged.
The agreement was signed by PKCERT Director General Dr Haider Abbas and Kaspersky General Manager Rashed Al-Momani, in the presence of Kaspersky CEO Eugene Kaspersky and IT Minister Shaza Khawaja. Officials emphasised that robust cybersecurity is crucial to Pakistan’s secure digital transformation and socio-economic development.
