Pakistan has launched a new feeder shipping service linking Karachi Port with key maritime hubs in the United Arab Emirates, marking a step toward expanding the country’s transshipment capabilities.
The announcement was made by Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, who said the service will connect Karachi with the UAE ports of Port of Fujairah and Port of Khor Fakkan.
The feeder service will operate through Karachi Gateway Terminal (Private) Limited (KGTL), a major business partner of Karachi Port Trust. KGTL forms part of the international operating arm of AD Ports Group, known as Noatum Ports.
According to the maritime ministry, the first vessel under the service arrived at KGTL on March 11, marking the start of regular operations.
Officials said the new shipping link will enable Pakistani importers and exporters to maintain access to international container shipping networks through regional transshipment hubs. Cargo routed through Fujairah and Khor Fakkan will also benefit from connectivity to wider regional and global logistics networks supported by the UAE’s transport infrastructure.
Shahid Ahmed, Chairman of Karachi Port Trust, said the feeder service will enhance Karachi Port’s connectivity with regional hubs and support Pakistan’s growing trade requirements.
