Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Tianjin, China. The meeting took place during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers conference.
Both leaders held wide-ranging talks on important areas of cooperation, including agriculture, mining, industry, and security. They also discussed the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and agreed to continue working together through multilateral platforms.
Chinese state media CGTN reported that the two ministers reaffirmed mutual support on issues related to each other’s core interests. Minister Wang Yi said China is ready to work with Pakistan to follow the understanding reached by the leaders of both countries. He also shared plans to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China in 2026.
Mr. Wang raised concerns about the safety of Chinese citizens working in Pakistan. Ishaq Dar assured that Pakistan will continue efforts to ensure the safety of Chinese people, projects, and institutions.
Mr. Dar also congratulated Mr. Wang on hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Tianjin Summit and thanked the Chinese government for their warm hospitality. He confirmed that Pakistan supports the One-China policy and is committed to deepening cooperation with China in all key areas.
