PTCL appoints Muhammad Amir Siddiqi as CFO, bringing 30 years of experience in telecom, financial management and corporate transformation.
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has named Muhammad Amir Siddiqi as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), with the appointment becoming effective at once after receiving approval from the company’s Board of Directors.
Siddiqi joins the role with over 30 years of professional experience, built across telecommunications, financial advisory and executive leadership. As a Fellow Chartered Accountant, he has gained expertise in financial planning, investment management, treasury functions, corporate governance, and business restructuring.
His connection with PTCL Group goes back many years. From 2013 to 2022, he served as Group Executive Vice President for Financial Planning and Treasury, managing budgeting, funding arrangements, financial planning, and performance monitoring across the Group.
He later became Head of Strategy and Transformation, supporting business growth and long-term corporate planning. His contributions during that period included significant industry projects such as spectrum-related transactions, telecom acquisitions, the launch of Wireless Data and Flash Fiber broadband services, and initiatives to lower operating costs.
Siddiqi was also involved in consolidating PTCL and Ufone’s finance functions into a single Group framework. His international career includes work with Etisalat in the United Arab Emirates, along with earlier roles at global consulting firms EY and Deloitte.
In 2023, he assumed responsibility for the finance function at U Microfinance Bank (UBank), holding that position until his most recent appointment. There, he helped obtain regulatory approval for a planned capital injection of roughly PKR 15 billion and supported annualized operational savings estimated at PKR 2 billion.
At UBank, his duties also involved enhancing financial monitoring systems, improving regulatory compliance, and strengthening recovery processes. His broader expertise covers mergers and acquisitions, risk management, international financial reporting standards, and corporate governance.
At PTCL, Siddiqi will oversee financial operations and ensure that capital and resources are used efficiently. His key goals will include strengthening financial performance, improving governance practices, and advancing the company’s broader strategic aims.
His return to PTCL Group brings a leader who understands its operations and sector challenges to guide its financial direction, as the company continues to pursue its long-term growth plans.
