Meta, led by Adam Mosseri, has announced a new video editing app called #Edits, set to launch on March 13, 2025. The app is now available for preorder on the iOS App Store and is designed to compete with ByteDance’s #CapCut, which recently faced disruptions alongside #TikTok in the U.S.
In a video shared on Instagram, Mosseri described #Edits as a robust creative tool for #video makers. The app includes advanced features like green screens, video overlays, and a dedicated tab for inspiration. Users can track ideas, access a high-quality #camera, and collaborate by sharing drafts with friends or collaborators. For creators sharing content on #Instagram, the app will offer valuable #insights, including a live #dashboard, follower and non-follower engagement #metrics, and data on how often viewers skip video segments.
The launch of Edits comes as TikTok and CapCut face regulatory #challenges in the U.S., with ByteDance’s ties to China raising concerns. While Mosseri did not directly comment on this issue, the timing suggests Meta is positioning Edits as an alternative for creators affected by these #challenges.
Edits aims to empower #creators with intuitive tools and insights, reflecting Meta’s commitment to supporting the growing #CreatorEconomy.
