ISLAMABAD – August 2025: At the GSMA Digital Nation Summit, Jazz executives Aamir Ibrahim (CEO, Jazz & Chairman, Mobilink Bank) and Kazim Mujtaba (President, Consumer Division) presented a powerful, integrated vision for accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation—anchored in local AI development, inclusive connectivity, and a decisive shift away from cash.
Aamir Ibrahim called for urgent regulatory reform to unlock digital potential at scale—emphasizing affordable smartphones, universal internet access, and fair spectrum allocation. “Connectivity must be a right, not a privilege—regardless of location, income, or gender,” he said.
He showcased Jazz’s leadership in building Pakistan’s first indigenous Large Language Model (LLM) with NUST and NITB—trained on over 1.8 billion words and 600,000 documents to enable AI solutions in local languages. “Pakistan can’t afford to be a passive consumer of AI—it must be a creator,” Aamir stated.
Addressing financial inclusion, Aamir said the real challenge to a digital economy isn’t competition between fintechs—but cash. “The battle is collective—and it’s against cash,” he declared. He called for mandatory digital payment options at retail level and highlighted JazzCash’s 12 million daily transactions as a sign of momentum. “Trust is earned, not assumed,” he added, noting the importance of consumer protection and feedback loops.
Kazim Mujtaba reinforced these themes by focusing on the usage gap—particularly for women and rural communities. “The smartphone is the first step into the digital economy—especially for the underserved,” he said.
He introduced Jazz’s ApnaClinic—an AI-powered health platform linking users to 30,000 doctors in 150 cities—and FikrFree, an inclusive insurtech solution. “We’re closing the gap where it matters—healthcare, insurance, and digital literacy,” Kazim explained.
Both leaders called for cross-sector collaboration, government support, and policies that prioritize people over platforms. “Inclusion is not a feature—it’s the foundation,” Kazim concluded.
