Telenor has appointed Fridtjof Rusten as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025. He will succeed Khurrum Ashfaque, who is set to take on a new global leadership role within the Telenor Group.

Fridtjof brings over 23 years of experience, including his prior role as Chief Financial Officer at Telenor Pakistan (2020–2023) and most recently, Chief Transformation Officer at True Corporation, where he played a key role in the DTAC–True merger integration.

Marius Gigernes, Chair of Telenor Pakistan’s Board, welcomed the leadership change, stating:

“Fridtjof’s leadership and deep knowledge of the Pakistan market make him ideal for this role.” He also commended Khurrum Ashfaque for steering Telenor through a period of transformation and digital growth.

Khurrum led the company through strong business results, digital advancement, and critical developments like the upcoming spectrum auction and PTCL acquisition talks.

Fridtjof expressed excitement to rejoin the team:

“I’m thrilled to return to Pakistan and work with a talented team. We will continue to lead Pakistan’s digital transformation.”

This transition marks a new chapter as Telenor Pakistan strengthens its leadership in the country’s digital ecosystem.
