The Capital Development Authority – Islamabad (CDA) has pulled the plug on what was supposed to be Pakistan’s largest technology park, based in Islamabad, leaving the project in limbo.
Originally, the CDA intended to lease out the 97,000-square-foot facility in G-10 Markaz, hoping to create a space for 5,000-6,000 freelancers, startups, and tech firms. The 3.3-acre site was supposed to operate under a public-private partnership, generating Rs. 16.58 million in monthly rent.
While the CDA planned to validate financial bids through third-party verification, with an Expression of Interest (EOI) pending for months, there has been no progress. No validation means no leasing, and no leasing means the grey structure meant for the IT park is just sitting there, collecting dust.
Instead of a buzzing innovation center, board members are now debating alternative uses for the site—some want a nursing university, others suggest an educational institution, as the IT park is officially off the table and the land remains a big question mark.
