Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has officially confirmed Nadeem Khan as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), formalising his appointment after serving in the role on an interim basis. The decision was approved by the company’s Board of Directors and marks an important leadership transition for Pakistan’s largest integrated telecommunications and ICT services provider.
According to Dawn and Business Recorder, Khan’s appointment follows a 14-day interim period during which he oversaw the company’s operations before being confirmed as its permanent chief executive.
PTCL stated that, “The Board of Directors of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has confirmed Nadeem Khan as the company’s Chief Executive Officer,” formally announcing the leadership decision after the board’s approval.
Khan brings nearly three decades of experience in finance and telecommunications, with more than 20 years spent within the PTCL Group. His career has included leadership positions across both PTCL and Ufone, where he played a significant role in shaping financial strategy and supporting major business initiatives.
“He joined Ufone as Chief Financial Officer in 2003, a role he held for a decade,” the company noted. It further stated that, “He was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer at PTCL and Ufone in 2017, going on to oversee the companies’ financial strategy during a period of major transformation, including the Telenor Pakistan acquisition.”
Before joining the PTCL Group, Khan spent more than seven years with Millicom International Cellular, gaining international telecommunications experience across multiple markets. His extensive financial and operational background is expected to support PTCL as it continues expanding its digital infrastructure and service portfolio.
PTCL said Khan will now lead the company’s next phase of growth, with a particular focus on modernising Pakistan’s telecommunications infrastructure. “In this role, Nadeem will lead PTCL’s endeavours to expand and modernize its wire-line network, with a strong focus on fiberization and the rollout of next-generation digital services across the country,” the company said.
The company also reaffirmed its long-term investment strategy, stating, “As Pakistan’s largest integrated ICT Company, PTCL continues to invest in broadband, fiber infrastructure, data centres and submarine cables to strengthen its position as the backbone of the country’s digital economy.”
Khan is a Chartered Accountant and a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He also serves on the Accounting Standards Board of ICAP and is a member of the Board of U Microfinance Bank, bringing additional governance and financial expertise to the role.
His confirmation comes at a pivotal time for PTCL as the company continues integrating Telenor Pakistan into PTML (Ufone 5G) while advancing investments in fibre networks, enterprise services and next-generation digital solutions. The appointment reflects PTCL’s focus on experienced leadership, operational continuity and accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation through sustained infrastructure development.
