
Prince Rahim Aga Khan V assured Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi of investment in the province during a meeting held in Chitral.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi met Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V during the latter’s visit to Chitral, where discussions focused on investment opportunities, development initiatives, and expanding cooperation in the province.
According to Dawn and The News International, Prince Rahim assured the provincial government of investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the meeting held at Lower Chitral Airport.
Speaking to reporters, CM Sohail Afridi said discussions covered the province’s economic potential, government priorities, and the ongoing contributions of the Aga Khan Foundation in social and development sectors.
“We also discussed the establishment of an Aga Khan University and hospital in Peshawar,” the chief minister said, adding that “Prince Rahim Aga Khan assured investment in the province.”
The chief minister praised the services of the Aga Khan Foundation and said the provincial government was committed to facilitating development initiatives that support education, healthcare, and community welfare.
Prince Rahim is currently on his first official visit to Pakistan since being named the 50th spiritual leader of the Ismaili community last year following the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV.
During his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, Prince Rahim has also met community members and highlighted the importance of unity, education, and social harmony.
Addressing a gathering in Hunza earlier, Prince Rahim stressed the importance of strong families and communities, saying, “When families and communities remain united, they become stronger and happier.”
The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) has maintained a longstanding partnership with Pakistan through projects focused on education, healthcare, climate resilience, rural development, and social welfare, particularly in northern regions.
Prince Rahim also reaffirmed AKDN’s commitment to supporting humanitarian and development initiatives in Pakistan during recent meetings with national leadership in Islamabad.
