National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has secured seven Best Practice Awards at the Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB) Awards 2026, highlighting the bank’s growing focus on workplace inclusion, representation, and organisational culture development.
The recognition places NBP among institutions being acknowledged for implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices aligned with evolving global standards in the financial sector. The awards reflect the bank’s broader efforts to strengthen inclusive workplace policies while promoting equal opportunity and professional development across its organisational structure.
Representing NBP at the ceremony, Saman Abbasi, Executive Vice President and Divisional Head of Learning & Development and Organisational Effectiveness, received the awards alongside members of the bank’s team.
According to the bank, the achievement recognises ongoing initiatives aimed at creating a more equitable and people-focused institutional environment. These efforts include strengthening employee engagement, improving workplace accessibility, encouraging broader representation, and embedding inclusive values into internal culture and leadership development.
The GDEIB Awards are internationally recognised benchmarks used by organisations to evaluate diversity and inclusion practices across areas such as leadership accountability, recruitment, workplace culture, employee development, accessibility, and community engagement.
Financial institutions globally have increasingly prioritised diversity and inclusion frameworks as part of broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies. Banks and multinational corporations are facing growing expectations from regulators, investors, and employees to create workplaces that support representation, fairness, and long-term organisational sustainability.
NBP said its people-focused strategy remains aligned with international institutional standards and modern workforce expectations. The bank added that inclusive organisations are better positioned to drive innovation, improve culture, strengthen employee retention, and support sustainable long-term growth.
Pakistan’s banking sector has gradually increased focus on workplace diversity, digital transformation, and organisational modernisation as competition intensifies across financial services. Industry experts note that institutions prioritising employee development and inclusive leadership practices are increasingly viewed as more resilient and adaptive in changing economic environments.
The latest recognition also supports NBP’s broader efforts to strengthen its institutional image while aligning internal governance and workplace practices with international best practices followed by leading global financial organisations.
The awards further highlight how diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are becoming increasingly important within the banking sector as institutions compete not only on financial performance, but also on organisational culture, talent development, and social impact
