Wateen Telecom has partnered with Akhuwat Foundation to develop an Agentic AI-powered Smart Loan Automation platform aimed at transforming interest-free microfinance in Pakistan.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Kamran Shams, CEO of Akhuwat Foundation, and Adil Rashid, CEO of Wateen Telecom, in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib, Founder of Akhuwat Foundation. The collaboration combines Wateen’s expertise in artificial intelligence engineering, enterprise system architecture, and large-scale digital solutions with Akhuwat’s mission of expanding financial inclusion.
The Smart Loan Automation platform is designed to streamline and digitise the lending lifecycle — improving transparency, operational efficiency, and decision accuracy. It marks a significant step in Akhuwat’s broader digital transformation strategy as it scales interest-free microfinance services nationwide.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Amjad Saqib said the platform would enable the foundation to serve more people effectively while maintaining transparency and dignity in financial access. Wateen’s CEO Adil Rashid added that the initiative reflects a commitment to technology-driven impact and a future-ready microfinance ecosystem.
Akhuwat has reached millions across Pakistan through its interest-free lending model. The new AI-driven platform aims to strengthen scalability, resilience, and equitable financial access across communities.
