Pakistan has launched a national artificial intelligence (AI) advisory panel to steer its digital transformation and economic modernization. The announcement came during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who emphasized AI’s role in driving innovation, improving governance, and boosting the digital economy. The panel will guide the implementation of the national AI policy, ensure responsible use of emerging technologies, and uphold data protection and sovereignty. A steering committee will be formed to oversee execution and align efforts across ministries and sectors.
The meeting was attended by key officials including Federal Ministers for IT, Finance, and Economic Affairs, as well as technical experts.
