Zong & ZTE Enhance Pakistan’s Network

Zong CMPak Ltd, Pakistan’s leading data provider, has joined forces with ZTE Corporation to commercially launch the world’s first 8T8R Ultra-Broadband Radio (8x120W) combined with a Digital Intelligent Antenna (DIA) solution, thus, marking a major leap for Pakistan’s mobile network infrastructure.

The high-power 8T8R unit supports FDD dual bands (1800 MHz and 2100 MHz) and consolidates multiple legacy Remote Radio Units (RRUs) into a single device: delivering up to 67% reduction in tower RRU footprint. This streamlined design slashes deployment complexity, conserves antenna real estate, and lowers infrastructure costs.

Powered by software-defined beamforming, the DIA unit can dynamically support two 4T4R cells (for current networks) or a single 8T8R cell (for future-ready networks). In trials, Zong recorded impressive performance gains: 34% boost in daily data capacity, 83% increase during peak hours, along with 173% daily and 115% peak-hour improvements in user experience.

Beyond enhancing connectivity, this rollout underscores a shared vision of scalable, efficient, and high-performance networks. With the potential to reduce costs and elevate service quality, Zong and ZTE are paving the way for a smarter, digitally richer Pakistan.
