Islamabad Authority Unveils App for Food Safety
The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has greenlit multiple initiatives to improve food safety and quality in the federal capital. In its 10th board meeting, presided over by Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the IFA resolved to set up a specialized food testing laboratory, introduce a public mobile app, and broaden licensing categories for food businesses.
The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has approved key measures to enhance food safety in the federal capital. During its 10th board meeting, chaired by Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the authority decided to establish a food testing lab, launch a public mobile app, and expand licensing categories for better regulation of food businesses. Deputy Director of Operations Dr. Tahira Siddique stated that these initiatives aim to improve food quality checks and streamline operations. The authority will also deploy more vehicles for inspections and introduce special allowances for food safety staff during Ramazan.
The mobile app will enable residents to report violations, while the new licensing framework will ensure all vendors, from street stalls to large outlets, operate under a unified system. Randhawa emphasized that these reforms prioritize public health, urging businesses to comply with regulations and residents to utilize the app for real-time reporting.
