Zong and Zindigi have launched Z-Wallet, embedding regulated digital financial services into the My Zong App, which has more than 22 million monthly active users.
Zong has partnered with Zindigi, powered by JS Bank, to launch Z-Wallet, bringing regulated digital financial services directly into the My Zong App through an embedded-finance model.
The service is powered by Zindigi’s Banking-as-a-Service infrastructure and operates under the regulatory framework of the State Bank of Pakistan. The partnership combines Zong’s large digital customer base with Zindigi’s digital banking capabilities to provide financial services within an existing consumer platform.
With more than 22 million monthly active users, My Zong App customers can access Z-Wallet without downloading or switching to a separate banking application. The service currently allows users to make interbank fund transfers through Raast, pay utility and internet bills, and purchase mobile top-ups using a single login and PIN.
The companies plan to expand Z-Wallet’s services further, with proposed offerings including nano lending, a Z-Debit Card and specialised Zong bundles. These additions are intended to develop the wallet into a broader financial-services ecosystem within the My Zong App.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said the initiative demonstrates how telecommunications and financial technology can combine to expand access to digital financial services. He linked the development to the government’s Digital Nation Pakistan vision and efforts to advance digital and financial inclusion.
The partnership also reflects the growing adoption of embedded finance, where financial services are integrated directly into digital platforms that consumers already use rather than being offered exclusively through standalone banking channels.
Zindigi Co-Founder and Chief Officer Noman Azhar said embedded finance can make banking available within existing consumer ecosystems, while Zong’s Head of Marketing Sajid Munir described the launch as part of the company’s expansion into financial services.
Z-Wallet has already recorded early adoption following its soft launch. According to the companies, approximately 22,000 verified wallets have been onboarded, with more than 12,000 transactions processed within a few weeks.
The My Zong App also records more than 500,000 new downloads each month, providing Z-Wallet with a growing digital channel for expanding financial services across Pakistan.
The initiative further supports Zong’s broader transformation into a technology services enterprise, while Zindigi’s Banking-as-a-Service infrastructure provides the regulated financial framework behind the offering. Both companies aim to reduce friction in accessing financial services and expand digital financial participation through an integrated platform.
