Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met World Bank Group President Ajay Singh in Karachi to exchange views on how the province should prepare for future economic and social demands.
Officials said the discussion revolved around the challenge of a fast-growing population and the need to create large-scale employment to avoid economic strain. Shah said Sindh is shaping its policies around expanding business activity, supporting start-ups and strengthening skills so more people can enter the workforce.
The meeting also reviewed investments in public services. Shah pointed to major upgrades in drinking water, sanitation and healthcare as essential for building healthier and more productive communities. He added that improving nutrition and medical care for mothers and young children remains a top priority.
Singh expressed support for Sindh’s development direction and said the World Bank is ready to back programmes that combine social well-being with economic opportunity.
Both sides agreed to keep working together on long-term initiatives that focus on resilience, inclusion and sustainable growth across the province.
