Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has launched Pakistan’s largest Special Technology Zone (STZ) at Education City, calling it a “historic milestone” for Sindh and the country. The project, spread across 435 acres, is designed to become a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge-driven growth.
At a ceremony held at CM House, agreements were signed between the Education City Project and the Special Technology Zones Authority – STZA. Under this partnership, Education City will be digitally integrated with STZA’s central e-portal, ensuring transparent governance, licensing, and investor facilitation.
A major highlight of the event was the collaboration with Switzerland-based The meeco Group, which will set up a renewable energy plant using wind, solar, and battery storage technologies. Power will be supplied at a competitive rate of $0.11/kWh for the first decade, with further tariff reductions later. Additionally, Meeco signed an MoU to establish a €100 million energy storage manufacturing facility at Education City, expected to create over 1,000 jobs and strengthen Pakistan’s clean energy supply chain.
The CM emphasized that Education City reflects Sindh’s vision for inclusive, sustainable development and credited Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership for prioritizing innovation. He said the project will be a symbol of Sindh’s progress and Pakistan’s growing global competitiveness.
