In a major step towards tackling urgent malnutrition, education, and climate resilience issues, the Sindh Government has joined hands with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah received WFP Country Director, Coco Ushiyama, to finalize joint strategies for improving the health and education sectors of the province while developing climate resilience.
The gathering, where main participants were WFP Provincial Head Hilde B., Policy Officer Salma Yaqoob, Principal Secretary Aga Wasif, Chairman P&D Najam Shah, Secretary School Education Zahid Abbasi, and Secretary Health Rehan Baloch, emphasized consolidating efforts among different programs. The discussions underscored the need for assistance by WFP in boosting community resilience and the recovery of livelihoods, especially through health and nutrition interventions and the soon-to-launch school meals program.
This partnership reflects a mutual commitment to addressing the interconnected challenges of climate change and malnutrition. By tapping into the experience and capabilities of WFP, Sindh will be able to introduce long-term solutions that enhance the welfare of its citizens and enhance the province’s resilience to environmental stresses.
