Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the performance of all ministries will now be checked every two months based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). He shared this during a cabinet meeting in Islamabad, saying ministries that perform well will be appreciated, while the goal is to improve service to the people.

He also expressed happiness over the Pakistan Stock Exchange – PSX  reaching a record high, calling it a sign of growing business confidence. However, he showed deep sorrow over recent monsoon floods, especially in Swat, which caused over 110 deaths, and stressed the need for better future planning.

PM Shehbaz also met President Asif Ali Zardari to discuss important matters like the economy, security, and political situation.

The cabinet approved a 15% increase in Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution under Ministry of Labour pensions, effective from January 1, 2025, and also formed a committee to expand these benefits to informal workers like domestic helpers and farmers. Other cabinet approvals included a five-year extension for the duty-free import of life-saving medicines, and legal work on the Sea Carriage Shipping Documents Bill 2025.

These moves are part of the PM’s plan to digital, modernize governance and improve public welfare.
