Pakistan’s government has officially announced its intention to nominate U.S. President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, commending his “decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership” during the recent India–Pakistan crisis. The nomination was shared via a post on X and emphasizes that Trump’s efforts were instrumental in securing a ceasefire during a brief but intense flare-up between the two nuclear-armed neighbors

In its public statement, Pakistan asserted that President Trump demonstrated “strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship” through sustained diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi, helping to de-escalate tensions and prevent further military conflict The government noted that his intervention not only helped broker the ceasefire, but also included sincere offers to mediate the longstanding Kashmir dispute citing the issue’s central role in regional instability.

While praising Trump’s role, Pakistan framed the nomination as recognition of his consistent pattern of pragmatic diplomacy and peace-building. It also referenced his meeting with Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, pointing to deepening Pakistan–U.S. ties and mutual efforts on counterterrorism and trade This move underscores Islamabad’s view of Trump as a genuine peacemaker, even as international reactions remain mixed.
