Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov witnessed the signing of 15 Memorandums of Understanding at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, marking the first presidential visit from Kyrgyzstan in two decades. The ambitious agreement aims to increase bilateral trade from the current $15 million to $200 million by 2027-28. The MoUs span multiple sectors including mining, energy, geosciences, culture, tourism, and agriculture.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar exchanged agreements with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubayev, while Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik signed mining cooperation deals and Power Minister Awais Leghari partnered with Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev on energy sector collaboration.
Islamabad and Bishkek were declared twin cities to strengthen people-to-people ties. Pakistan offered Kyrgyzstan access to Karachi, Port Qasim, and Gwadar ports, providing the landlocked nation vital maritime routes to global markets. Both leaders emphasized the importance of the CASA-1000 energy project for regional connectivity and committed to expanding cooperation through the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum.
