Pakistan is taking a giant leap towards a greener, technologically advanced future. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Industry and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, recently met the CEO of Huaguan, one of China’s top electric vehicle producers to discuss cooperation in EVs, lithium battery, robotics, and drone technology.
Haroon repeated the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by emphasizing that electric vehicles are the future. Haroon recalled that while moving towards EVs is all about innovation, it’s also about reducing oil import bills and saving the planet. Lithium batteries will be central to the energy story of tomorrow, powering vehicles and energy storage systems alike, he further maintained.
The CEO of Huaguan revealed that the company has already started manufacturing lithium powered agricultural drones. Haroon highlighted how robotics and drones are revolutionizing industries across the globe and can also become lifesaving tools in disaster rescue and relief efforts.
With Pakistan’s new NEV Policy 2025-30 already underway, these talks confirm intent. With Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif traveling to China for the SCO Summit and a B2B Investment Conference, this trip could open doors to investment, joint ventures, and new opportunities, paving the way for increased cooperation with China and a cleaner, brighter future for Pakistan.
