Nova Minerals Limited, a NASDAQ- and ASX-listed exploration company, has clarified that its discussions with Pakistan over antimony concentrate are preliminary and intended only to test plant capability. The statement followed media reports, including a Financial Times article, speculating about potential acquisitions.
“The company wishes to clarify that, while preliminary discussions have been held in relation to sourcing antimony concentrate for testing purposes principally to assess plant capability, all discussions remain exploratory in nature,” Nova said in its press release.
Chief Executive Christopher Gerteisen was quoted in earlier reports as suggesting purchases of more than 100 tonnes of Pakistani antimony, but the company stressed that no binding agreements exist. Nova added that any material arrangement would be disclosed under exchange rules.
The firm highlighted that its 2026 priorities include completing feasibility studies for gold assets and beginning production of military-grade antimony trisulfide, supported by a $43.4 million award from the U.S. Department of Defence.
Industry observers note that Pakistan recently signed partnerships with foreign firms to explore critical minerals, underscoring growing interest in the country’s resource potential.
