Mastercard has launched Google’s Google Wallet in Pakistan, bringing secure contactless payments to the country for the first time. This marks a key step in strengthening Pakistan’s digital payment infrastructure.
With Google Wallet, users can make payments in-store, in-app, and online using their Mastercard. The app also allows users to store and manage tickets, boarding passes, and loyalty cards. Transactions use Mastercard’s tokenization technology, which replaces card numbers with digital tokens for enhanced security.
To start using Google Wallet, Mastercard cardholders in Pakistan can download the app, add their card, and pay at any merchant accepting contactless payments. The process is simple: unlock the phone, tap it near a payment terminal, and complete the transaction.
Mastercard’s Pakistan Country Manager, Arslan Khan, highlighted the role of this launch in advancing digital payments. He noted that it aligns with Pakistan’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy and will help more people access secure, cashless transactions.
