China’s Shengtang Group is exploring a $10 million MoU and investment opportunities in Pakistan across industrial, infrastructure, EV, energy, tourism and urban development sectors.
A Chinese business delegation from Shengtang Group has indicated plans to pursue a $10 million memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan while assessing potential projects in multiple sectors.
The group is considering opportunities in industrial development, infrastructure, tourism, electric vehicles, railways, energy and urban development, according to the Ministry of Industries and Production.
The delegation held discussions with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, who outlined government measures aimed at attracting Chinese investment and facilitating foreign businesses.
Khan said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s push for deeper economic engagement with China was being translated into practical initiatives. He added that authorities had been instructed to assist Chinese investors and improve the overall business environment.
The adviser also highlighted regulatory changes being introduced to make investment conditions more favourable. Among the available facilitation measures, he pointed to the land-lease model, which can support investors seeking to establish industrial projects and other developments.
“The time is right for investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan. The country has demonstrated its reliability and resilience at the international level,” Khan said, urging Chinese investors to consider opportunities emerging in the country.
Discussing bilateral relations, Khan described the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and China as “thicker than blood.” He said cooperation between the two countries had already resulted in various joint ventures and MoUs, with roughly 40% of these projects having progressed into implementation.
The adviser said greater participation by Chinese companies could help expand Pakistan’s industrial base and stimulate economic activity. He also linked increased investment with potential gains in technology transfer and employment creation.
The Shengtang Group delegation’s interest comes as Pakistan seeks to attract greater foreign investment and deepen economic cooperation with Chinese businesses across a broader range of industries.
