Karachi’s transport future was in the spotlight on Wednesday as a senior delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) met with Sindh’s Senior Minister and Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon. The high-level meeting, held in Karachi, focused on reviewing ongoing development work on the Red Line BRT project and mapping the way forward.
The ADB delegation comprised David Margonsztern, Syed Umar Ali Shah, Hameed Khan, Francois Louis-Guillaume, Ahsan Paracha, and Wenjing Pu, while Secretary Transport Asad Zamin and CEO Trans Karachi Fawad Ghaffar Soomro also attended. The delegates were apprised of construction progress under Lot One and Lot Two, and the ADB members termed the Red Line BRT a key solution to the increasing transport needs of Karachi. They reaffirmed their complete financial and technical assistance for early completion.
Minister Memon emphasized that the Red Line BRT is a flagship initiative of the Sindh government, designed to provide safe, affordable, and efficient travel for millions of daily commuters. He urged all agencies to strengthen coordination to accelerate progress. The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to complete the Red Line BRT on time, transforming Karachi’s transport system and improving urban mobility for its citizens.
