Ghandhara Tyre won US DOT certification, allowing tyre exports to the United States and supporting the company’s strategy to expand exports and strengthen its global footprint.
Ghandhara Tyre & Rubber Company has won United States Department of Transportation (DOT) certification, clearing a key regulatory hurdle for exports to the world’s largest automotive market. The PSX notice on July 15 said the company’s tyres comply with US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
The certification formally allows GTYR to export tyres to the United States, a move the company framed as central to its push to diversify export destinations. “The company has successfully registered with DOT certification, enabling the company to export tyres to the United States,” the PSX filing said.
Industry analysts say DOT approval positions Ghandhara to compete in a tightly regulated market where safety and compliance are mandatory. Access to the US could raise the profile of Pakistani-made tyres and support higher-value export contracts, they added.
Ghandhara has been broadening its product range, adding tyre sizes for SUVs and crossovers while exploring joint ventures. The company previously partnered with China’s Shandong Huasheng Rubber to examine local manufacture and export-focused production of truck bus radial and passenger car radial tyres.
The PSX notice did not disclose projected shipment volumes, timelines, or expected revenue from US sales. Still, company statements stressed the certification aligns with a strategic emphasis on increasing export sales and “capitalising on emerging opportunities.”
Market watchers noted the certification also signals growing manufacturing capability in Pakistan’s automotive sector. If GTYR translates approval into reliable supply and competitive pricing, it could capture niche segments in the US import market.
For shareholders, the move suggests potential upside through export diversification, though risks remain. Meeting FMVSS is necessary but not sufficient — success will depend on logistics, distribution partnerships, and after-sales support in a demanding market.
Ghandhara’s DOT clearance is a milestone for the firm and a symbolic win for Pakistan’s export ambitions. The company said it remains committed to strengthening its global position and delivering sustainable value to stakeholders as it pursues new overseas markets.
