Pakistan’s domestic energy production has expanded with the start of commercial production from the Baragzai X-1 well in Kohat’s Nashpa block by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL). The well was found earlier in 2026 and is currently producing significant amounts of liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, and crude oil.
In order to facilitate operations, the business has put in place specialized infrastructure that connects the wellsite to adjacent processing facilities, guaranteeing effective handling and transportation of extracted resources. After processing, the gas is fed into the nation’s pipeline network, supporting the nation’s total energy distribution system. As the project’s principal operator, OGDCL is collaborating with other parties that have minority stakes in the block. The company intends to conduct additional drilling as part of ongoing development in order to assess the reservoir’s size and performance.
