JazzCash hits 1 million Raast QR merchants, accelerating Pakistan’s cashless economy and supporting small businesses nationwide.
JazzCash, Pakistan’s leading digital financial services platform, has reached a landmark achievement by onboarding its one millionth Raast QR-enabled merchant. This milestone supports Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a cashless economy and aligns with the State Bank of Pakistan’s broader agenda to formalize financial transactions nationwide.
The occasion was marked at a retail outlet operated by the Behbud Association, a non-profit dedicated to empowering women through vocational training. By equipping Behbud’s artisans with instant digital payment tools, JazzCash is helping integrate women-led micro-enterprises into the formal economy, ensuring that digital inclusion extends to grassroots communities.
The event was attended by VEON CEO Kaan Terzioglu, Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim, and JazzCash CEO Murtaza Ali. JazzCash’s simplified onboarding process, combined with the interoperable Raast framework, has transformed traditional cash-only businesses into documented, high-velocity financial ecosystems. This approach not only strengthens transparency but also accelerates the adoption of digital payments across Pakistan.
Highlighting the significance of the milestone, Murtaza Ali stated: “Reaching 1 million QR-enabled merchants is a significant step in embedding digital payments into the daily lives of Pakistanis. From neighborhood shops to mission-driven organizations like Behbud Association, JazzCash is enabling seamless, interoperable payments that support small businesses and strengthen the digital economy. Our focus remains on making financial services accessible, intuitive, and relevant for every Pakistani.”
With this achievement, JazzCash cements its position as the nation’s largest QR ecosystem, driving forward Pakistan’s transition toward a modern, cashless economy.
