China’s commercial space company GEESPACE, a subsidiary of Geely Holding, has signed a cooperation agreement with Pakistan’s satellite communications operator Paksat International to support the rollout of satellite-based connectivity services in Pakistan and nearby markets. The partnership aims to strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, improve connectivity in remote and underserved regions, and support the growing digital economy.
Under the agreement, the two sides will collaborate on policy coordination, technical cooperation, and market development for Geespace’s low Earth orbit satellite Internet of Things (IoT) constellation. Paksat will assist with policy engagement, spectrum coordination, and regulatory compliance required for commercial satellite operations in Pakistan. The partners will also explore cooperation on network access, service integration, and marketing.
Geespace Chief Executive Wang Yang said the company would provide high-reliability, all-weather satellite communication services tailored to address coverage gaps in hard-to-reach regions, industrial digitalisation, and cross-regional connectivity needs.
Satellite services are seen as a cost-effective solution to Pakistan’s connectivity challenges in mountainous and sparsely populated areas and can also serve as a backup communication when terrestrial networks are disrupted. Geespace currently operates 64 low Earth orbit satellites and has completed launches between 2022 and 2025.
