In a bid to deepen economic cooperation, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and UK Minister of State for Trade Policy Chris Bryant have committed to fast-tracking the Pakistan-UK Trade Dialogue Mechanism. The agreement was reached during a meeting in London, where both sides stressed the urgency of turning diplomatic goodwill into tangible economic outcomes.

“With £5.5 billion in bilateral trade, we have only touched the surface,” Iqbal remarked. “The Trade Dialogue Mechanism must now become the engine that unlocks our true economic potential.” He urged immediate activation of three working groups to ensure measurable progress before the next ministerial session.

Bryant echoed the sentiment, highlighting the mechanism’s framework signed in July 2025. “Technical discussions around SPS measures and tariffs are essential,” he said, calling for subject-matter experts to craft actionable solutions. Both ministers agreed that delays are no longer acceptable and pledged to deliver results swiftly.
