Pakistan and Belarus have recently strengthened their bilateral relations by signing a comprehensive three-year roadmap (2025–2027) aimed at enhancing cooperation in various sectors, notably food security and electric vehicles (EVs).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held a bilateral meeting in Minsk to enhance cooperation in food security, agriculture, and the production of electric vehicles and buses. They agreed to collaborate on developing farm machinery and expanding defence and business-to-business ties. Both sides also decided to create a strategy for sending over 150,000 skilled Pakistani workers to Belarus.
The leaders discussed trade, investment, and regional issues, and committed to strengthening economic and commercial relations. Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s interest in Belarus’s expertise in agricultural and mining equipment and called for joint ventures in these sectors. He also highlighted Pakistan’s rich mineral resources and proposed deeper cooperation in defense, textiles, and public transport. During the visit, both countries signed agreements and MoUs covering areas such as Interior, Defense, Environment, Trade, and Economy.
Pakistan and Belarus signed several agreements and memorandums of understanding to boost cooperation in various sectors. Key agreements included a Readmission Agreement and a cooperation pact between their interior ministries, as well as a defense cooperation agreement. Additionally, both countries signed a Military-Technical Cooperation Program for 2025–2027. These documents were exchanged by senior officials from both sides, reflecting a commitment to deepen bilateral ties.
