Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman met with Starlink representatives to discuss the company’s potential launch in Pakistan to enhance digital connectivity in remote areas. The meeting covered technical, regulatory, and operational requirements, with the PTA chief stressing compliance with local regulations and cybersecurity protocols.

PTA Chairman Major General (Retd) Hafeez ur Rehman met with the Starlink team at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona to discuss enhancing digital connectivity in Pakistan. Talks focused on providing affordable broadband services in remote areas and developing a regulatory framework for satellite services. Starlink is in the process of being registered with Pakistan’s Satellite Regulatory Body and plans to establish two to three ground stations in the country. Elon Musk earlier confirmed that Starlink is awaiting government approvals to launch services.

The meeting between PTA Chairman Hafeez ur Rehman and the Starlink team at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 aimed to introduce satellite-based internet services in Pakistan. Discussions focused on using LEO satellites to deliver affordable, high-speed internet to remote areas. With Starlink’s registration underway and plans to set up ground stations, the partnership is expected to promote digital inclusion and support Pakistan’s digital transformation.
