Bolormaa Amgaabazar has been appointed as The World Bank’s new Country Director for Pakistan, effective July 1, succeeding Najy Benhassine. The announcement was made through an official press release by the World Bank on Monday. Expressing her enthusiasm about the new role, Amgaabazar stated, “It’s an honor to serve as the World Bank’s Country Director for Pakistan. Our partnership with Pakistan spans generations and has positively impacted millions. I’m eager to strengthen collaboration with government bodies, civil society, the private sector, and development partners.”
A national of Mongolia, Amgaabazar brings over 20 years of experience in global development. Since joining the World Bank in 2004, she has served in regions such as East Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. Her previous leadership roles include posts in the Kyrgyz Republic, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. She emphasized the Bank’s continued commitment to supporting Pakistan on pressing development issues like child stunting, education, climate resilience, and sustainable energy.
