Visa is aiming to increase business acceptance tenfold—especially for small and medium enterprises, supercharging digital payments in Pakistan. With a market of 7.5 million businesses Visa is pushing for smoother and more secure cashless transactions.
Pakistan’s shift from cash to digital has already sparked a surge in innovation. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)’s latest numbers show a steady climb in digital transactions—POS payments jumped 8%, and card-based retail purchases rose 5%. #E-wallet users shot up by 85%, and internet banking adoption grew by 25%. Clearly, the country is embracing the convenience.
Building on this progress, Visa is rolling out tap-to-phone solutions for small merchants, replacing POS devices. Prioritizing security, Visa has poured $10 billion into fraud prevention and launched the Alias Directory Service for safer cross-border transactions.
Beyond payments, Visa is also empowering businesses through partnerships with fintech, banks, and government entities. It’s also backing women entrepreneurs through its ‘She’s Next’ program, awarding $50,000 in funding.
