The Punjab Highway Patrol has activated a dedicated Cyber Patrol Unit to keep an eye on digital platforms, aiming to address public complaints, curb misinformation, and strengthen trust through faster online engagement.
The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has established a Cyber Patrol Unit to monitor social media and other digital platforms, with the initiative coming into effect immediately, officials said on Wednesday. The move is intended to strengthen public outreach, address complaints more efficiently, and counter misleading information circulating online.
According to officials, the unit has been set up under formal orders issued by PHP Additional Inspector General of Police Dr. Athar Waheed PSP and will remain operational until further directives are issued. The Cyber Patrol Unit will track online content related to the Punjab Highway Patrol, identify public concerns raised on digital platforms, and ensure that relevant issues are taken up with the appropriate departments.
The initiative is also aimed at promoting safer and more responsible online engagement, while improving the flow of information between the public and law enforcement. Officials said the unit would work in coordination with relevant PHP wings to ensure timely reporting and effective responses to issues highlighted by citizens.
Dr Athar Waheed directed the Cyber Patrol Unit to function in line with modern operational needs and stressed the importance of swift grievance redressal. He said proactive digital monitoring is essential for improving service delivery and reinforcing public confidence in law enforcement agencies.
