Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has launched the Center of Excellence for Research, Development and Training (CERDT) at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore), under its CSR initiative. PPL MD & CEO Imran Abbasy inaugurated the facility, joined by UET Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir and other key industry leaders and academics. With a PKR 51.1 million grant from PPL, CERDT aims to strengthen technical capacity in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector through advanced research and free training programs.
Speaking at the ceremony, Abbasy emphasized PPL’s commitment to education and innovation, noting the company’s annual contribution of over PKR 3.5 billion to social development. CERDT is designed to offer technical training, support R&D, and host petroleum conferences, marking a pioneering academia-industry collaboration.
Dr. Munir praised the initiative, stating that CERDT will help produce professionals equipped with the practical knowledge required by the industry.
