Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with US President Donald J. Trump at the Oval Office on Friday. The meeting marked a significant moment in Pakistan-US relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to regional peace and deeper bilateral cooperation.
The Prime Minister lauded President Trump’s “bold, courageous, and decisive leadership” in facilitating the Pakistan-India ceasefire earlier this year. He also praised the US president’s recent initiative to convene Muslim world leaders in New York, aimed at bringing an immediate end to the conflict in Gaza and restoring peace in the broader Middle East.
During the discussions, both leaders reviewed avenues to strengthen the bilateral partnership. Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in security and intelligence, while also highlighting opportunities for American investment in Pakistan’s agriculture, IT, minerals, and energy sectors.
The Prime Minister extended a warm and cordial invitation to President Trump to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at his convenience, further underlining Islamabad’s intent to deepen ties with Washington.
