

Planning Minister Prof Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary has outlined a data driven roadmap to guide Pakistan’s long term economic recovery and growth.

The Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives has marked significant progress in strengthening data based governance through the clearance of long pending research and the modernisation of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Officials said the transition has positioned both institutions as central pillars for evidence based planning and policy formulation.
Pakistan’s first digital population census was followed by the Digital Agriculture Census and the Economic Survey of Pakistan, all completed successfully. The release of the Household Integrated Economic Survey 2024–25 is expected to support deeper research and provide businesses with clearer insights for decision making and productivity improvements.
Such as, recent socio economic data shows mixed progress. Literacy has increased to 63 percent, out of school children declined to 28 percent, household internet access rose to 70 percent and recorded full immunisation coverage reached 73 percent. Clean fuel usage also improved to 38 percent.
Furthermore, Planning Minister Prof Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary cautioned against unsustainable growth models, stating that Pakistan will prioritise exports, remittances and foreign direct investment. He described the survey findings as “a call to thought and action,” urging stakeholders to focus on education, health and digital integration as part of the Uraan Pakistan roadmap toward a one trillion dollar economy by 2035.
